Moving your broadband. It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Moving your broadband to a new provider has never been easier thanks to something called a MAC code (or ‘Migration Authorisation Code’). It’s an Ofcom process that’ll help you move your broadband with as little hassle as possible.

To move your broadband, just follow these three simple steps:

  • Step 1 – Look at the broadband deals on this site to find the best offers from the most popular providers. Don’t worry about checking lots of deals – you won’t order anything until you’re ready. Have a good look around before making your decision.
  • Step 2 – Call your current provider to ask them for your MAC code. You’ll find the number to call here. They should send it within 5 working days and you’ll need it before starting an order with your new provider.
  • Step 3 – Once you’ve got your MAC code and you’ve chosen your new provider, go to their website to place your order. Just remember to enter your MAC code when they ask you for it.

Don’t leave me this way

As you might expect, your current provider isn’t going to want to see you go and they’ll almost certainly offer you some kind of deal to stay.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s possible to save a large amount of money this way, but you should check the broadband deals on this site to get an idea of what other provider are offering before you agree to anything, especially as most deals come with a new minimum term contract.

Consider your contract

Speaking of contracts, it’s worth noting that if you’re still within your minimum term with your current provider, you’ll probably need to pay a fee for leaving early. This is usually an amount of money based on the product you have, multiplied by the number of months remaining on your contract.
